Google Wave Bug-Free Enough for 100,000 Beta Testers (and eBay)
It’s official: the first supposed email killer has arrived. Prepare for paradigms to be shattered, mailboxes to be converted, and the whole of the internet to be turned upside-down. Maybe. Google Wave is here.
The possibly revolutionary interface was released to 100,000 lucky testers this morning, and if that number doesn’t seem exclusive, ponder the fact that one trial has been placed on eBay for a minimum asking price of $70…and will very likely sell for more.
So what’s got people so excited about Wave? The question leads a list of many, and might take some time to answer; but for starters, it’s converted emails into ‘conversations,’ making them easy to navigate and keeping the most important ones—defined by the user—front and center. Like AOL Instant Messenger on crack, conversations can include rich media like Google Maps widgets and the usual video/photo content. Conversations can include multiple parties and are logged in realtime as if caught on a security camera.
