Lakers Welcome Loose Cannon
It’s offish. All fans of NBA Western Conference teams BESIDES the LA Lakers can begin shuddering: the reigning league champs have brought in yet another big gun to help secure a repeat. Of course, this is no Regular Joe with a spotless league past. This is the one and only Ron Artest.
It’s no secret that Artest—one of the only players in history to average 15+ points per game for over ten straight seasons—is a bit of a loose cannon. In 2004, Artest went where no player had ever gone before (at least during a game) by loping into the stands and clocking a fan with a strong right hook. And in June of this year, he took aim at new teammate Kobe Bryant, giving him an earful before referees gave him the boot. In fact, if NBA fans disinclined to root for the Kobe-powered juggernaut needed one glimmer of hope, it’s that even zenmaster Phil Jackson may not be able to contain the Ar-testy veteran.
Now would be a good time to get in one of those pre-season wagers.
